Alex Borges, Executive Director
Hola! I was born and raised on the island of Puerto Rico. In 2004 I moved to Georgia to obtain my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology. I have been involved in many different groups that support my community including mentoring programs, child advocacy groups, and also food bank projects. I currently serve as a board member for the Athens-Clarke County Literacy Council and the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute (LACSI) Advisory Board. Before taking on the role of Executive Director at Casa de Amistad, I worked with the Clarke County School District’s Migrant Education Program (Title 1 Part C) for three years. As a Migrant Education Specialist I helped many under-served migrant families with academic and social support. I am also a resident manager of the historic Taylor-Grady House in Athens. I’m really happy to be supporting my Latino community in Athens through the many services Casa de Amistad has to offer. Feel free to get in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org or (706) 206-2087.
